Shoot Six

To create this image, I have taken a photograph of flowers and edited them on Photoshop to transform it into black and white. After doing this, I printed the edited image onto acetate ready to project onto my model in the studio. To do this I used an overhead projector and different lighting. I have edited the photographed image to adjust the brightness and contrast then also changed it to black and white. I don’t really think that the outcome of this image is successful as it did not achieve the effect which I had envisioned. If I were to reshoot this image I would request for my model to wear different clothing and also change the lighting and the brightness of the acetate which I had previously printed. However, even though I do not believe this image was very successful, I think it is quite effective and looks different due to how the print has projected onto the background in the studio.

I particularly like this image which I have taken in the studio using artificial lighting because it is very simple from using a white t shirt and natural makeup however it looks quite effective. The model has a very neutral expression on her face which shows she is not focused on everything else around her, only the camera lens. Also, I think this photo is effective because no matter what angle you look at this image, the model always appears to be looking straight towards you. I think this image is successful as it has achieved the outcome which I had hoped for and I believe that it will be a good image to experiment with and cover with different materials and effects. When editing this image I have adjusted the vibrancy of the image and also the brightness which makes it look bold however not too bright in colour which I believe is an interesting effect. If I were to reshoot this image, I would try using different clothing and also different makeup to see what effect this would create and how the image would appear when edited and experimented on.

I really like this particular edit because although the white is very bright and the background is grey, the models eyes stand out which shows that this is the main point of focus in the photograph. Also, I like the way that the artificial lighting from the studio complements this image on a whole as it is effective in the way it brightens the white t shirt which the model is wearing and the blonde colour of her hair. I think this edit is successful because although it strips the image from its colour, it looks interesting and bold which is appealing. If I were to edit this image in a different way, I would reduce the brightness slightly so that the models face does not appear too pale and possible enhance the contrast which could make the image more effective. In this image, I believe that the exposure may have made the image appear too bright which is why the models face looks pale.

To take these photographs I used a Nikon D3000 and also used the studio which meant having artificial lighting. Also, I used an overhead projector with acetate to project onto my model and the background. I do not believe that this photo shoot was very successful because it did not achieve the outcome what I had hoped for and I don’t think that the projector lighting was strong enough to project a clear enough image onto the model. As well as this, I don’t think that the lighting in the studio influenced my photographs in the way I had envisioned them. I think that some of the images in this photo shoot are too underexposed and some are also too underexposed.
