Matt Wisniewski

It's a common misconception that photography is only meant to capture single moments in time. Matt Wisniewski defies this notion by creating works that combine people with nature, giving his photos the feeling of containing multiple realities in a single image. His work is a form of synesthesia that blends humanity and the wilderness, showing the congruence we maintain with the natural elements we came from. He creates digital collages by blending fashion and nature photographs together. The aim of his work is to create surreal images.

Although this image appears to be slightly blurry, I really like this composition by Matt Wisniewski because he doesn’t just overlay one image but two onto the portrait of the model which I think is interesting and different to other overlays I have seen before. The model in this image appears to be quite content and preserved but the bright colours and flowers which are overlaying her face and shoulders could indicate that her personality is much more bolder than it seems. Also, this could indicate that Matt Wisniewski is trying to portray that she is covering her personality and feelings with other things. The model and the bright colours also contrast due to the way the model is looking down but the flowers and colours are standing out.

I really like this image which Matt Wisniewski has created due to the model appearing to be in the background and the brightly coloured flowers being in the foreground and covering her face. The expression the model is using looks like she is hiding herself from others such as her feelings; this contrasts with the bold colours which are covering her, these colours are showing that the model does not need to cover up her feelings. As well as this, the bright coloured flowers are very feminine and pretty which could indicate that the model may feel insecure which is why she is not showing her full face. The lighting in this image is used well and the main point of focus it the models eyes and pink and yellow flowers which are near her forehead.
