My initial idea is overlaying portraits with still life and landscapes. I chose this particular idea because I like the way nature overlaps the portraits. The main artist I have focused on is Matt Wisniewski; I particularly like his work and the way his photographs are angled. I also like the way he erases the background of the portrait so that the landscape/still life image is only overlaid onto the person in the overall image. To achieve this I will be performing numerous photo shoots to record the amount of portrait, still life and landscape images that I need. I will be taking portrait images as different angles to experiment with different looks. Also, I will be taking pictures of brightly coloured flowers and bright nature aspects to ensure that they stand out on the black and white image. I have also developed my ideas further into different textures and looks; I will be photographing decaying objects covered in mould and rust. This will create a great texture on the image as it will be zoomed in and will not look like rust or mould. Also, I will be editing images on Photoshop to create the best possible images. As well as this, on Photoshop I will need to erase the background, like Matt Wisniewski does, of the portrait to ensure that the landscape or still life image is only overlaying the model in the photograph to create the best possible effect. The specific name for these types of images is double exposure portraits.
