Shoot Five

This shoot which I have taken is quite interesting, especially with the typewriter, because I have taken it in an old caretakers house which is located on the college grounds. Also, the old cup and saucer which had been left created quite a good effect due to the mould inside of the cup. When taking this photoshoot, I used a Nikon D3200. I think that this photoshoot is very successful because my aim was to place nice objects in an area which wasn't so appealing and the outcomes of this shoot achieved that. I think that some of the photos were too overexposed and too underexposed however this has helped me to understand which techniques to use when I conduct my next photoshoots. Within this photoshoot, I have used apperture to focus on different aspects of the photograph and I have also tried to incorporate the rule of thirds into my images. If I were to retake this photographs, I would possibly use a backdrop and artificial lighting when photographing the typewriter because certain aspects and the intricate details are not necessarily visible in the photographs as the natural lighting was not enough for these to be seen.

This is one of my favourite photographs from this photoshoot because of the use of apperture; I really like the way that the background is in focus rather than the foreground because it is usually the other way around. I also like the angle which I have taken this photograph as it shows the sides of the keys on the typewriter rather than the tops and show the contrast between the black and the silver. Due to the way I have placed the flower, it looks as though it has actually grown out of the typewriter which I think is intriguing when you look at the image as a whole. As well as this, I quite like the way you can see the slight rusting of the typewriter at the top of the image due to the angle it has been taken at.

Similarly to the first image, I also like the angle that I have taken this photograph at; it has been photographed from a birds eye view which shows how you would see the typewriter if you were looking down at it. I think this angle is interesting because all of the keys can be seen and also the letters. When looking at this image, it appears too overexposed because of the way the lighting is on the flower. To improve this photograph, I could have used a backdrop when taking the image which would have resulted in a plain and neutral background rather than the table which the typewriter was placed on.

This is also a really good and interesting photograph from this shoot because of the mould in the cup and also beneath in on the windowsill. I think that this photograph is better than the second one beause the background actually compliments the photograph rather than it being placed on a table, As well as this, I think that the colour of the flower gives an interesting effect against the white cup and also the mould in the cup because it contrasts well. I also like the boldness of the flower, because it is red, it makes if more eye catching when looking at the image at first glance which is why it is the main point of focus because your eyes are automatically drawn to it.

This photograph from this shoot is really interesting and quite stunning when you look at which is unusual because it is mould however, the contrast between the red flower and the green mould is very striking. I think that this still life image is very successful because the intricate details of the flower and the mold can be seen due to the angle and also how close the photograph was taken. When taking into account the apperture, I think that the main point of focus was intended to be the flower however the mould next to the flower draws your attention becuase its quite bold; it makes you look there because ultimately the mould should not be there, I also think that your eye is drawn there because the white windowsill is so bright but then the mould on the windowsill has high contrast.

I quite like this photograph from this shoot because there is a high contrast between the green moss and the white teacup but also there is a high contrast between the red flower and the teacup and the red flower and the moss. The main point of focus in this image is the red flowers because they are bold and in focs when comparing to the background behind them which is what draws your attention. Although, the moss may also draw your attention due to it being in a place where it shouldn't be with a teacup next to it. As well as this, the red flowers are the main point of focus because when taking this photograph, I have took into consideration the rule of thirds which has resulted in the flowers being located on a powerpoint. I think that this photograph is very interesting because of the differences of the colours within it of the different aspects of the image, for example the bright white teacup and saucer against the dark green mould is an interesting contrast which is intriguing. If i was going to reshoot this image, I would exoeriment more with apperture and see what effect it woul give if the mould was the main point of focus rather than the flower. One aspect of this image which I would change would be to crop the left hand side where the window frame is so that it does not draw your attention and makes the photograph overall more successful.

This photograph which I have taken is interesting because of the composition and the angle in which I have taken it. I particularly like this composition because there is a contrast between the flower and the teacup with the mould and the chipped paint. When taking into account the apperture, the main point of focus is the red flower however, the chipped paint also draws your attention because it is along the bottom of the image and is in sharp focus. If I was going to improve this image, I would think about the rule of thirds and incorporate this into my photograph so that the flower was located on a powerpoint rather than near it as this would increase the quality of my image and would also draw your attention more to the main point of focus.
